Baby Blue is a young artist with a difference. She is not looking for instant glorification or hoping to be relevant just for today, but rather has an aim to sustain longevity.
Blue, as she is affectionately known, started rapping while at school, when friends decided to form a group and needed a female voice. Although she originally wanted to become an actress, being a part of the group inspired her to start writing songs. After being invited to record at Raw Materials studio, Blue recorded a solo track called ‘I Woulda’, which was inspired by her cousin’s gang-related death in the US. The track was given to various DJs and received a great amount of support and airplay.
Having previously worked with others, such as Ms Dynamite, Kardinal Offishall, and Idris Elba, 2010 will be Blue’s time to shine on her own, with an EP and album slated for release, showcasing an innovative and unique sound. As someone who is described as down-to-earth, and a future entrepreneur who is passionate about music, Baby Blue hopes to make her mark further by collaborating with giants of music – Jay-Z, Nas and the legendary Stevie Wonder.
